The Smith Family: Summer 2008

Beginning of June Shawn flew Robbie and I to Seattle to surprise his wife (one of my best friends) Liz for her 30th Birthday. It was cold and rainy everyday except for the day I left! The rain really does make everything more beautiful. We went to the zoo, shopping (and more shopping), walked the pier, went on a Ferry, got a massage, and went to two movies two nights in a row thanks to Shawn for watching our kids. Shawn had another surprise for Liz. He threw her a surprise Bday party on Saturday. Liz and I went shopping on Sat. and when I finally looked at the time I realized it was a little past the time I needed to get us to leave, so I had to think fast! I told Liz that we needed to go home right away because I wasn't feeling well and needed to lay down. When we got to her house and she opened the door the first thing she said was, "you're not sick are you?" and I said no with a big smile! Anyway, Robbie and I had a great time! Liz and I felt the trip went too fast. We needed more time without the kids! :)

Will and Robbie ended up having the same hat! What are the odds? I guess Liz and I have the same taste.

Friends (Emily and Andrea) from Flagstaff who now live in Seattle. Andrea's husband was our home group (bible study) leader and then Emily's husband was. We met for lunch on the Pier. We had a nice time visiting.

Our friends Christian, Jackie, and baby Calvin now live in Seattle also. We met them for coffee. It was great to see them!

This is how Robbie took his naps at Lake Powell. Mike, Robbie, and I were staying in a tent on shore, but the tent got too hot during the day to put him in there for naps, so he slept in his stroller on the air conditioned house boat. It was nice having him strapped down because we didn't have to worry about watching him constantly!

Beginning of July when Chris, Berta, and Josh came up to Flagstaff for a jewelry show. Berta sells Premier Designs jewelry.

4th of July!

Robbie, Randi, and Jonathan at the Phoenix zoo. We won't mention how hot it was! They were having a "snow" day at the zoo. They had put snow in with all the animals and a big area for the kids to play on. It melted pretty fast as you can imagine!

At Josh's 1st Bday party July 12th, which was held at Berta's parents house.

Robbie "sharing" his plane with Josh! Okay he's not exactly sharing because he hasn't really learned how to share yet. BTW, thanks Bob and Lynn for the airplane, it's his favorite toy! He loves putting as many balls as he can into the seat that lifts up.

July 26th.
My good friend Lauren and I threw a luau for our old home group and my current home group.
I got a kick out of watching Robbie over and over again put a squishy ball into the dogs water bowl, get it soaked, take it out and squeeze the water out. He was so determined to get all the water out that he squeezed so hard it made his hands shake, and the look of determination on his face was priceless! It was so funny, I guess you had to be there!

We also celebrated Nathan's (in the middle) 30th Bday! His wife flew him out from Seattle as a surprise!
